How To Create Your Avatar

You may have seen some forumners displaying their images in their post profiles. This is what we call “avatars”, a visual representation of the forumner in the virtual community. It is a usefull tool to visually identify a member of the virtual community. If you ever wondered how you can put up a mugshot of yourself read on to find out how.

The User Control Panel
Every registered member of the forum has access to their personal settings thru the User Control Panel. The link to the User Control Panel (lets call it UCP for short) is located at the top on every forum page. This image illustrates its location:

Once your in the UCP, click on the “Profile” tab to go to your profile settings.

You can edit your personal details in this page. Let’s proceed to upload our avatar. Continue by then clicking on the “Edit Avatar” link in the Profile tab.

We are now in the “Edit Avatar” page. To upload your avatar, use your favorite drawing program (Photoshop, Paint, etc.) and resize your avatar image to at most 90 pixels by 90 pixels. Then click on “browse” to upload you image.

And finally click on “Submit” to complete the process.

An there you go. The next time you make a post on the forum, your mugshot will be proudly displayed next to your post!
